ReFound

Privacy

This is a plain-language summary of how ReFound treats data. A full legal policy will accompany public launch.

What is never on a QR code

A ReFound QR encodes only a link of the form /s/<code>. It contains no name, phone number, email, or address.

What a finder can see

Only the safe label and any optional details you explicitly enabled (for example, a pet care note). Never your contact information or identity.

Scanner data we store

When a tag is scanned we record a timestamp, a one-way hash of the scanner's IP (never the raw IP), and a truncated browser string — to power rate limiting and abuse prevention. Location is stored only when a finder explicitly shares it.

Student IDs

Student ID pages never reveal a child's identity. Recovery is mediated by the school office. The school module is designed to be FERPA/COPPA-aware.

Your controls

You can change what is shared, mark an item lost, or disable a tag at any time — which immediately stops the QR from working.
